2013 HBCU
College Fair and Chicago Classic at Soldier Field
Saturday,
September 21, 2013
Participating students from
both Craig and Parker High Schools will attend the HBCU
College Fair to meet with admissions professionals from approximately 30 HBCUs
from across the country to discuss the admissions and financial aid process.
Students will also attend a college football game and “Battle of the Bands”
between the Tigers of Morehouse College and the Marauders of Central State
University and their respective marching bands. This educational opportunity
will serve as a catalyst to engage minority and economically disadvantaged high
school students in post-secondary educational planning. This helps to create
and cultivate an educational environment of academic excellence and purpose.
This opportunity is open to
all students expressing a desire to attend an HBCU. Minority and economically disadvantaged high
school students participating in Student Services programming groups (SES, BRO,
Beyond Expectations and the Latino Leadership Club), marching band members,
honors and Advanced Placement students will have priority for this educational
experience.
